Dearly beloved,
Franklin, Maggie, Femme du Woof and I, your learned Corgi, wish much love and happiness on this 2011 Valentine’s Day. And just in case you’ve forgotten, we love bones! ~Atticus
Ok, so we started our day at zero degrees and it’s now 13 degrees. Lots of sun but boy is it cold! Even Maggie and Franklin didn’t want to stay out too long. Sparky ran in and out prancing. This isn’t his kind of weather. Melanie, his girl pal, says he’s a Florida kinda guy. There has been a lot of playing on the dog beds inside. Then we held some attention to the new catalogs that came in the mail. Franklin attempted a play for the Chico catalog but Maggie intercepted it. We sat around Femme du Woof’s chair and tried to decide which clothes will be in this spring. Like we’d care anyway, but we did try to look interested. Then I told everyone about Lilly the barn cat’s second attack on me yesterday. I am happy to be in the company of dogs today. Lilly jumped on my butt when I had my back to her. She thinks she’s so cute. Humph! We also heard an NPR News report from our old friend Jay Field. His white dog, Zeke, used to come to play before his family moved to Maine. Jay’s story was about the Biathlon World Cup that was held in Maine. We wondered if Zeke got to go and watch it, too? I miss Zeke. ~Atticus
PS. Wyatt and Abby didn’t show today. I guess Wyatt was just too timid to shoulder the cold with us muscle dogs. (Sparky is grinning.) Abby couldn’t drive herself and I guess she doesn’t have her own Metra pass?
Dear Woofers,
Today has been quite rambunctious! Or should I say pooch-bunctious? Maggie and Franklin have been at it all morning. Jumping, running, rolling, and dragging each other back and forth across the snow covered yard.
Femme du Woof said she looked out the window to check on them as there was a great deal of barking and grring. At one point she said that the snow was flying around them so much it was hard to make out who was who. Sparky is the big dog in all of this. He just puts his head down and marches right through the fray. I’ll get you Maggie, he grrred, as she jumped over him and tackled Franklin.
Sparky looks quite like a wintery Sean Connery Secret Agent 007 type in his fleecy overcoat. It must be time for a nap? ~Atticus
So listen up, this blizzard has been something. We dogs have had lots of fun and one of our favorite games is a variation of Where’s Waldo? but we call it Where’s Wally? Wally and Elizabeth are our neighbors. We look for Wally as he goes back and forth by the side fence. This past week he was out shoveling out their car and we had to let everyone know it! Wally didn’t look too happy. I don’t think he likes winter much! Elizabeth likes to snap pictures. I worry about the “snapping” part. She sent me a photo of me and my furry face. Elizabeth was documenting the aftermath of the blizzard. Here I am patrolling the back path complements of EP.
Dear Snow aficionados,
The sun is out! Todays trio, consisting of me and Abby and Maggie, has been drift diving. Maggie is the best, she has the jump and bounce down just right. Her nose gets iced up but she shakes her head to remove it and goes back for more. Abby swirls and swishes her long tail. She makes funny looking “dog angels” Me, I try, but I get stuck. I would much rather bark at them and grrr a bit when they fling snow on me. Leo and Bella the Chows next door where out and I woofed a bit at them too!
I hope you get to grr a bit yourself. Oh, oh, Woof Inn has a new forums page. If you have something to bark about visit the Woof Forums link. Feel free to leave us your own news, events, stories, pet adoption links, puppy information and the like. ~Atticus
Dear snow bound friends and frosty ones,
We’ve been busy, Abby the Shepherd and I. What were we thinking trying to go out in that blizzard anyway? Femme du Woof cautioned us, but we were firm in our zeal. She warned me, I wasn’t as tall as the drifts! Abby even had trouble. I did manage a snow ball at her nose and she was none too pleased. Femme du Woof has been shoveling us a path as well as a path for the mail man. The whole town is in a white drama. The sirens sounded last night. Abby was worried and barked back at it. The winds howled, too. I hid in my crate and Abby had a towel over her head. This has been my first and I hope last blizzard! And just in case you have not heard Punxsutawney Phil has made his prediction. Spring is on it’s way! Go ground hogs! I wonder if we can chase him, too? ~Atticus
Abby the Shepherd decided to beat the snow and arrive early! She’s staying with us for a few days. Snow’s coming, she grinned. Abby likes the snow. She sniffed the air as she headed outside to check out the conditions. We’ve had about 2 inches of snow so far but the weather man keeps up the warning for “thunder snow” of 2 feet by tomorrow morning. I’m a little worried the snow drifts will be taller than me. Abby better let me follow her around when the snow gets high. She’ll just have to plow me a path! Oh, Abby and I may be the only Chant du Woof choir members on Wednesday. I hadn’t considered a duet but it’s a possibility.
Here’s hoping you keep your nose above the snow, ~Atticus
Dear puppy lovers,
Yes, he’s back! Franklin, the yellow Lab puppy was on vacation but now he’s back. Maggie, the Springer Puppy is thrilled! Maggie and Franklin have a connection. They just love romping and bouncing and spinning in circles. Franklin sounds like a horse when he runs. The ground rumbles as he dashes back and forth with nimble Maggie. Hopefully all the potted trees will say in place and other parts of the house will stay in tact? Look out, there they go again! I’ve taken to barking at them cause I just can’t keep up. ~Atticus
PS, At snack time this morning, Franklin reminded us that his buddy, Danny, has a fabulous new sandwich shop in the Minneapolis – St. Paul area called the Grand Sandwich. If you are in the area, Franklin suggests you try out their food. He thinks it’s just yummy.
Dear Chant du Woof Choir,
Members, rejoice, it’s Wolfie’s birthday! How could we forget the big Wolf. Wyatt reminded me last night to get ready. Did you know Mozart kept pets? A dog (its name I can not find) as well as a canary, a starling and a horse. Maybe he had a Shnitzelhimer dog from Salzburg? Sparky thinks that Herr Wolf must have had some dogged help composing. Femme du Woof thinks we might make a special soup. Sparky and I are hoping she’ll give us special bones, but we’ll see what happens.
Anyone wishing to join the Chant du Woof Choir, we meet every Wednesday morning.
~Atticus
PS. Thanks to Maddie for my new wooflative, woofderbar!
